Defensive Rankings

Defensive Rankings lives in the Data tab and ranks all 32 defenses 1 through 32 in every category. The list is sorted by Total Defense by default, and the color tells you the tier instantly: green is a top-10 rank, yellow is 11th through 22nd, and red is a bottom-10 rank.

What “Total Defense” means

Total Defense is total yards allowed per game — net passing yards allowed (passing yards minus yardage lost on sacks) plus rushing yards allowed, divided by games played. It is the same definition the NFL uses, so 1st means the defense gives up the fewest yards per game and 32nd means it gives up the most.

Opening a team

Tap any team to see its defensive playcaller, its scheme, its fantasy points allowed per game against QB, RB, WR and TE, and the full category list — points, net passing and rushing yards allowed, touchdowns, first downs, third down rate, yards per pass and per rush allowed, plus sacks, interceptions and takeaways.
