Match coverage
Zone rules that convert to man once receivers declare their routes.
Match coverage starts as zone and becomes man once the route distribution declares. Defenders pass off and pick up receivers by rule, so the offense cannot beat it with the spacing concepts that punish pure zone.
Most modern quarters coverage is match coverage rather than the spot-drop version.
