Turnover

A change of possession by interception or fumble recovery.

A turnover is a change of possession that is not a punt, a kick or a failed fourth down: an interception or a lost fumble. It is the single most swingy event in a football game.

Turnovers are largely unstable year to year, which is why single-game turnover totals are unreliable predictors on their own.
